This past weekend was one of the most fun weekends I’ve had in a while. The crazy thing is, nothing wild or spectacular happened. I simply had a couple of girlfriends over for wine and laughs on Friday night and then on Saturday afternoon, my friend Sabine and I went to brunch at The Culver Hotel located in the heart of Downtown Culver City.

I absolutely love The Culver Hotel, and its my #1 happy hour spot in LA. Something about the ambience, the romantic outdoor patio, and the delicious food & drinks always makes me want to come back for more. Although I’ve tried just about everything on their happy hour menu, I never actually had a full meal there, so I instantly jumped at the opportunity when Sabine proposed it for our brunch date.

My former roommate and I spontaneously discovered this spot together one night when we went exploring in Downtown Culver City. We actually kept it a “secret” from all our friends for a little bit because we wanted to keep it as our secret spot. Well thank goodness for growth and maturity, because I realized it was wrong to keep this gem all to myself and eventually shared it with others. And today, I’m going to share it with you guys!

When I went for brunch, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. I LOVE their truffle fries so I instantly made the decision to swap out the Parmesan fries that came with it for truffle ones #truffleoneverything. My friend Sabine got the steak frites and eggs and we were both very satisfied with our meals. I got to try Sabine’s steak and y’all… the steak gravy was everything and more. I’m not really a big steak eater unless I’m at a steakhouse, but I was seriously impressed with Sabine’s order. It was tender, very juicy, and flavorful.

Brunch wouldn’t be complete without a cocktail in tow. Sabine and I both agreed that we didn’t care for bottomless mimosas that day, but we both had our eye on the RumChata cappuccino. We decided to wait until after our meal to order our drinks because we didn’t want the flavors from our meal and drinks to clash.

So the first time I had RumChata was about a week ago. Before that experience I never even heard of it. I loved it so much, I actually served RumChata mixed drinks during the girls night I hosted the night before brunch. So when me and Sabine saw it on the menu, we knew we had to have it. If you’ve never had RumChata, it’s basically a creamy alcoholic drink, like Bailey’s Irish Creme. I’m not an alcohol connoisseur whatsoever, HOWEVER it is so yummy and you don’t taste any alcohol at all.

The RumChata cappuccino was served over ice and it tasted like coffee ice cream.. And since we chose to eat outside, it was perfect to keep us cool and refreshed on the outdoor patio as we chatted and laughed away. Also as you can see in the photos, I enjoyed my drink so much that I finished it all.

I absolutely LOVED The Culver Hotel brunch experience. I will definitely be back, especially for bottomless mimosas. On TTMB, I pride myself in being completely honest with you guys so I will admit that my only complaint was that sometimes I felt like our table was forgotten.  Our food came out fresh and timely and our waitress was so sweet. However, I think that sitting the the furthest back corner kept the staff from interacting with us a bit more. With that being said, I NEVER had a negative experience at The Culver Hotel before so I’m gonna chalk this up as a fluke and just assume that what felt like inattention was simply our server giving us space and not wanting to interrupt since we were clearly chatting it up, laughing, and having a ball over our meal.

Overall this was an excellent experience and I can’t wait to bring more friends next time. I always joke about this when I’m there, but I seriously want to host an event on the patio. I could picture a cute intimate birthday meal with a group of girlfriends or maybe even a bridal shower brunch being hosted there. There was actually a bridal brunch going while I was there but they had their meal inside of the hotel at one of the longer tables.

I think sitting outdoors is much prettier so I’ve actually never sat inside, HOWEVER there is live jazz inside during happy hour so it may be worth it to sit inside. If you’re worried about the cold, they have a bunch of heating lamps outdoors to keep you warm, although let’s be real… does it really get that cold, in LA anyways?! #westcoastbestcoast Whether you’re an LA tourist or a longtime LA native, I think everyone needs to come by The Culver Hotel even if it’s just for drinks and appetizers. I promise, you won’t regret it one bit!

P.S. Brunch is only on the weekends however if you want to come on a weekday, they have a regular breakfast menu along with lunch and dinner options during those respective times. Also there’s plenty of parking in the public Culver City parking garages located steps away from The Culver Hotel (they’re free for the first 1.5 hours). Don’t forget to bring cash in case you go over the time limit for free parking since they don’t take cards at the parking booth. Just in case you forget, there’s a Bank of America with ATMs conveniently located across from The Culver Hotel. I believe the hotel does have valet as well if you prefer that option!
