The Skirtsy Box Unboxing Review

I was super fortunate enough to be included in the launch of The Skirtsy Box, a new clothing subscription box that provides African print skirts, delivered to your home each month. I first heard about The Skirtsy Box from a Facebook group I’m in and when an opportunity to be a part of their launch presented itself, I jumped at the chance.

So a long time ago, my good friend got an Ankara romper made and I knew I wanted one just like it. Luckily for me another friend of mine was traveling to Nigeria around that same time and she agreed to bring back some fabric for me… Guys, that was like 2 or 3 years ago and the fabric is still folded in my drawer because I have yet to find a good tailor to make my pieces. Typically you buy fabrics and then have a tailor cut and sew the designs that you want. But in my case, because I never found a tailor, I never had my pretty African print outfits made. When I heard about The Skirtsy Box, I was so excited because it meant that my days of searching for a tailor were over.

Before you order your Skirtsy Box, you have to fill out a short questionnaire that inquires about your color, sizing, and fabric preferences. You also get to pick the skirt length that you want. I don’t own any long skirts so I opted for the longest length.

My items arrived in a beautiful box with a vibrant African pattern on it. I love this specialized touch and it made the unboxing process a fun experience. Here’s what came inside my Skirtsy Box:
1) 1 Skirt
2) Matching Earrings
3) Matching choker necklace
4) Yummy smelling peach bath bomb from My Swag Boutique
5) Handwritten note with candy
6) The Skirtsy Box sticker and pin

My Overall Impression:
Guys, I absolutely positively LOVE LOVE LOVE this skirt. I have been wanting one like this for so long and I’m so glad I finally have one. The colors and print that were picked for me are so vibrant and perfect for the summer season.

I loved my skirt so much that I rushed this review for y’all lol. The thing is I was actually going to wait until next week to post my review (after I wore the skirt to my friend’s graduation). But after twirling around my studio apartment, and falling in love with it, I knew I had to get a post out sooner. So think of this as a teaser to the real review. Part 2 will be up next week after I get a chance to wear my skirt out of the house, and I will be sure to include a bunch of photos of me wearing it.

In case you really want to see what this looks like on me, I included a cellphone photo below. I took this quickly to send to my friend so please ignore the blurriness & poor lighting!

The fit of the skirt is perfection. This actually might be the best fitting piece of clothing I own right now. I tried different positions and I like it high-waisted the best. But it also looks cute sitting a little lower on the hips as well. It is snug but not tight and cinches me up in the right places so it really flatters my shape. My favorite part is that it is not tight in the belly area so this is perfect for dinner dates, brunches, or anything where lots of food is involved because no one will see your food baby afterwards!

Aside from the fit, I am also very impressed with the quality. The fabric is durable and the colors are very vibrant. The stiching is also well done and you can tell that this was NOT cheaply made AT ALL.

I’m not very big on jewelry but I did love the coordinating earrings and choker necklace that were included. I think I will take off the sparkly necklace charm since I’m not a bling girl, but I can definitely see myself wearing these accessories with and without my skirt.

Lastly I haven’t tried the bath bomb yet but it smells AMAZING. Like I literally want to take a bite out of it each time I smell it.

Anyways, so far this Skirtsy Box is a 10 out of 10! Like I said before, expect a full review after I wear my skirt next week. In the mean time, don’t forget to visit The Skirtsy Box to find out how to get your own African print skirt! And keep a look out for my updated review next week!

Omggg! I love. I have 2 African print skirts and I’m looking to add more to my very small collection. I just might sign up for this. Seems very convenient.
