LIFE LATELY: Oh, hello there! Remember me? I know, I know, I literally fell off the face of the earth. But Internal Medicine was taking up so much of my life that I didn’t have time or energy to blog. I was so busy and when I was home, I was too tired to do anything afterwards. Not only that, but past few months have just been overwhelmingly stressful and emotionally draining. There have been so many ups and downs (truthfully it seems like more downs than ups). But at the end of the day, I can’t complain. I have loving friends and family,… View Post

I don’t know about you, but I am NOT a morning person. I perpetually hit snooze and even when I do wakeup on time, I still spend 15-30 min scrolling through social media in bed or staring at the ceiling wishing I could close my eyes and fall back asleep. After all those antics, it’s really no surprise that I always end up racing the clock to leave my apartment in time. Because I always run out of time in the am, it is essential for me to have a quick and easy makeup routine so I can get to the hospital on time.… View Post

LIFE LATELY: I mentioned this last week, but I’m currently dealing with two recent deaths in my family. Thankfully this week has been better than the last and I am in much better spirits. There’s only 3 weeks left until the end of my rotation and then I have a full weekend off! *insert praise hands here* I’m trying to decide where I want to do. My dad suggested Napa and one of my friends wants to visit Nashville or maybe New Orleans. I’ve done Vegas too many times to count so thats not an option. Anyone have any suggestions? I’m considering Catalina (an island off… View Post

If you know me in real life, you’d know that I’m obsessed with apps. I use a paper planner for organization and to-do lists but other than that, everything lives on my iPhone. I know some medical students worry about using a smartphone/ tablet on the wards. The concern is that their team will think that they’re scrolling through Instagram or sending texts instead of looking up clinically relevant info. Personally, I’ve never had an issue with that. And if for some reason I was worried that my phone-use looked suspicious, I’d casually say something along the lines of “I’m looking XYZ up on… View Post

LIFE LATELY: The past few weeks have been really hard. I had to fly back to the east coast two times to attend funerals of close family members and on top of that, I have been swamped with the demands of my Internal Medicine rotation. While I wish my time home was under better circumstances, I am glad I had an opportunity to see my family and loved ones. Thankfully though, with the support of loved ones and friends I have made it through the past few weeks. I’m still sad and still grieving, but I’m finding the strength to make it through each day.… View Post
