LIFE LATELY: Between filling out grad school applications (I’m doing a dual degree with my MD) and being on the in-patient neuro consult service, life has been pretty hectic. I was pretty bummed because this past weekend was supposed to be my birthday celebration, but because I planned my schedule wrong, I ended up having to work both days weekend days. Today is my actual birthday so I will be grabbing dinner later on but I’m still unsure as to what I want to do with my friends over the weekend. Given how busy my schedule has been I may even celebrate in 2 weeks. Overall I can’t complain though and I’m so excited to be 26!
AROUND THE BLOG: You guys asked, and I delivered… I have been sharing a lot more medical school content recently. I recently wrote a post on my favorite shoes for the hospital and clinic and a day in the life of psychiatry, which was my last rotation. I also shared a more personal post about some life lessons and things that I’ve learned recently.
LA LIVING: I have not been exploring LA as much. Between preparing grad school apps and running around the hospital, I’m lucky if I get 5 hours of sleep. I have the next two weekends off though so I’m looking forward to doing something fun. I’m thinking of heading to Malibu for a belated birthday celebration. I haven’t been to Downtown LA in a while so I may go on an adventure there sometime soon. Either way, I’ll be sure to document adventures for the blog!
WHAT I’M READING: I need new book suggestions. What are you guys reading? Gabrielle Union just came out with a new book that I’m dying to read. If anyone is looking to get me a birthday gift, feel free to get me a copy of her latest book We’re Going to Need More Wine, if you really love me, then you can add a bottle of wine too.
FITNESS: Unless you count walking around the hospital, I have done ZERO exercise this past week. I switched to the neurology outpatient clinic next week, which means that my days will be a little bit shorter. I’m hoping that this means that I’ll have more time to fit regular workouts back into my schedule. Someone suggested I look into intermittent fasting. I’ve heard of it and know people who have seen great results but we’ll see if I actually try it.
HOME DECOR: I really need to get some new home decor posts up. The thing is though, with my old schedule, I was leaving before the sun rises and getting home after the sun sets. As a result, I missed the natural light prime time during the day. I’ve been getting out of the hospital much earlier so one of these days I’m going to use my afternoon to shoot some home decor pics! Let me know if there’s anything in particular you want to see.
MEDICINE: As a mentioned above, I’m currently on neurology outpatient service, which basically means the neurology clinic. Before this I was on the inpatient service which means I was treating the patients with neurological problems in the hospital. Although I don’t find neuro interesting, I don’t think I will become a neurologist. Up next is surgery, which is pretty demanding so I’m going to be soaking up all the extra time I can get right now.
